Do I really need an AFM to live in Greece?

Yes absolutely.

Without Greek tax number (AFM) you will not be able to open a bank account, work, find an accommodation, get a SIM card, and many other things. So if you are planning to move to Greece you definitely need an AFM.

How long does it take to receive my AFM?

Once we have all the necessary documents and information from you, it takes between 1 to 4 weeks to receive your AFM number. However, we are all dependant of the internal process of Greek tax authorities that is out of our hands, so turnaround time can be a bit longer of shorter.

What documents are required to obtain the AFM?

To apply for the Greek AFM tax number, you need to provide a copy of your passport or identity card for European Union citizens.

Is my AFM number definitive?

Yes, there is no “temporary” AFM.

The AFM tax number that you will receive is definitive and will remain the same forever.

Can I apply for under 18s?

It is possible to apply for under 18s However, one person (Mother or Father) will have to be representative and there will be one more document to sign, nothing special.

Is it possible to modify or delete fiscal representative within my AFM?

Yes, you can amend details related to your fiscal representative, address, and other data linked to your AFM. Upon obtaining residency in Greece, it becomes possible for you to refresh the address listed in your AFM, thereby removing the requirement for a fiscal representative.

I am no yet in Greece, is it possible to get an AFM?

Yes absolutely.

It’s even the purpose of our service: get your AFM number BEFORE moving to Greece. Like that you can focus on the most important and let us the paperwork.

I am not from EU: Is the fiscal representation included?

Yes: tax representation is included in the service, whether or not you are an EU national. You can opt out as soon as you become resident in Greece by notifying us. If you do not inform us, tax representation is then automatically renewed every year at a cost of €199.

Is it completely online?

Our registration process is 100% online. However you will have to go to the nearest Greek consulate (or KEP office if you are already in Greece) in order to sign the Power of Attorney and get it stamped.
